Whos in Trouble? Democrats or Republicans?

I’ve read several articles in which the Democrats seem to think they can regain the Texas House in the upcoming election. Specifically they seem to feel that the nine Republicans in Districts that are less that sixty percent (60) Republican are vulnerable.

This does not take into account that the Republican vote percentage actually increases in a Presidential election. I think we will see an increase of one to three percent this time.

If true then only four Republicans are vulnerable based on the Democrats illogical way of thinking.
Now let’s look at the possibilities for Republican gains.

There are no Republicans in Democrat Districts. Yet there are nineteen (19) Democrats in Republican Districts. Oddly six (6) of these were unchallenged in the last election.

And using the Democrats criteria there are seventeen (17) Democrats vulnerable of which eight (8) were unopposed.

That’s a total of thirty-six (36) vulnerable Democrats.

Who are they? Here’s the list with the Democrat percentage of the vote first and the Republican percentage second. If there is an asterisk (*) they the seat was unchallenged in the last election.

Take special note of those in sixty percent plus Republican Districts and note that many of their leaders are vulnerable. (Source: http://www.tlc.state.tx.us/redist/pdf/h1369/red225_0650.pdf)

In order for Republicans to win these seats the State Republican Executive Committee Members the County Chairmen and the Republican leaders within these Districts need to recruit and help fund candidates who can win these seats.

And just what is a perfect candidate?

Someone who has a track record of working in campaigns and has shown that they support the Republican Party Platform. This may be a current or past SREC member a past Platform Committee member a past Club President or a known activist.

They must have experience ability and a willingness to walk the District recruit volunteers and raise money.

The Democrats do not have the ability to defend all these seats and gain new ones.

With their recent actions in the House they hopefully have awakened a sleeping Republican giant.

If so we may soon have a State House of Representatives with 117 Republicans and 33 Democrats.

What a great state Texas will be then.
