Ernie Angelo is an independent petroleum engineer and the Managing Partner of Discovery Exploration. He is the former Mayor of Midland a longtime Republican activist and former RNC Committeeman.
Merrie Spaeth is the founder of Spaeth Communications a communications consulting firm. She served in the Reagan White House as a media advisor is a former reporter producer talk show host and actress. She is credited with taking “the White House into the Space Age” with her introduction of satellite communications to the White House.
“What a privilege it is to have such great people leading my campaign. Merrie and Ernie’s experience wisdom and friendship have been invaluable to me over the years and they will help get our campaign off to a great start” said Williams.
“Michael is an exceptional individual who has been successful in everything he has done. I am proud to have known him as a personal friend for many years. It is an honor for me to have this opportunity to co-chair the campaign to keep Michael working for Texas” said Angelo.
“Texas and Texas Republicans need leaders like Michael. He is a conservative with integrity; an innovator and someone who can reach people from all backgrounds and of all ages. We need a sense of urgency about the issues of energy and their link to economic growth security and opportunity” said Spaeth adding “Michael’s personal story and achievements are inspiring.”

Merrie and Ernie understand the challenges Texas energy faces today and will help me cultivate and communicate our ideas. Williams was initially appointed to the Railroad Commission in 1998 by then-Governor George W. Bush to fill an unexpired term. He was elected in 2000 and reelected to a full term in 2002. The election will be held in November of 2008. Williams will officially announce his intention to seek reelection late this year.
