Just in time for holidays Democrats decide to go on spending spree
By Congressman Michael McCaul
BAE Update: This is a great day for BAE its employees and for Texas. The GAO has upheld what we have claimed from the beginning that the Armys evaluation was flawed and that Oshkoshs bid to build the FMTV was not realistic. Through my close working relationship with BAE I have always maintained that the Sealy workforce produces the worlds finest trucks. Based on the GAOs ruling they should get a fair shot at a new and fair competition.
As has been customary I look forward to assisting BAE in any way the company requests. I want to thank the members of the Texas delegation who worked with me in a bipartisan way to make sure BAEs appeal was heard.
Healthcare Update
Ten Democratic senators have formed their own compromise" on healthcare reform legislation; however they will not release details about the bill until they receive a score from the Congressional Budget Office. Rumor is the bill will cut $400 billion from Medicare while simultaneously increasing enrollment by allowing Americans to enroll at age 55.
Additionally this bill will remain a government takeover of healthcare as there will be some form of government between consumers and insurance providers regardless of whether a public option is included.

It is expected that the Senate could vote on its healthcare bill this week and that Speaker Nancy Pelosi may try to force a vote in the House before we adjourn for Christmas. This would once again give Americans very little time to study the bill before an arbitrary voting deadline.
Tax Extenders of 2009
Last Wednesday I voted against and the House passed H.R. 4213. While H.R. 4213 temporarily extends many tax credits I support it pays for them by permanently raising other taxes. Putting money in one pocket and taking it out of another is not a tax cut in my book.
Over the next ten years H.R. 4213 will result in a net tax increase of over $1 billion. Since the beginning of this recession the American people including small businesses have been urging Congress to cut taxes in order to spur investment and create jobs.
Nancy Pelosi and Company still havent heard the message.
TARP II
Last Friday I voted against and the House passed the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009. H.R. 4173 also referred to as the Geithner/Frank Financial Regulatory Reform Plan: Permanent Bailouts of Wall Street Firms and a Government Takeover of Financial Services will create a litany of new government offices bureaucracies and czars.
These new bureaucracies will have enormous and unchecked authority to establish standards and practices that financial firms will be subjected to encroaching on the ideal of a free market economy. Furthermore this bill will allow the Secretary of the Treasury to borrow up to $200 billion dollars for failing financial firms thereby solidifying the bailout policies used for AIG Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
FY 2010 Consolidated Appropriations Act

Just in time for the holidays Democrats decided to go on another spending spree borrowing more money on the American taxpayers credit card. At a time we need to tighten our belts the majority voted to balloon the budgets of government agencies by more than 12 percent.
The millions of Americans out of work and those who have jobs but havent had a raise in over a year should be insulted by the government getting fatter. This bill includes 5000 pet projects costing taxpayers an additional $4 billion.
The national debt is at a record $12 trillion and this bill digs the hole deeper. Much of this spending comes at the expense of legitimate and necessary programs. The bill cuts federal reimbursement to states for housing criminal aliens by $70 million and cuts $304 million from Bio-shield which is critical to our homeland security.
I urge the President to veto this spending bill if it gets to his desk.
Lets start over and reprioritize how taxpayer money is spent.
