width=65(TAYLOR TEXAS) -- A former Army veterinarian who treated horses and mules on the infamous Burma Road" during World War II will finally be awarded his earned medals by U.S. Representative John Carter (R-TX31) this Friday in ceremonies hosted by the Taylor Lions Club. Dr. Horace Truett Barron of Taylor is scheduled to receive the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars; the World War II Victory Medal; and the Honorable Service lapel Button during the event.  Barron a graduate of Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine served as a Captain and U.S. Army Liaison Officer from 1943-46 and was assigned to the Chinese Nationalist Army as a veterinarian.  He was evacuated from China in 1945 after the horse he was riding fell off a cliff.  This is long overdue" says Congressman Carter and a project that I was honored that our office could handle.  I am looking forward to hearing more on Dr. Barrons fascinating and heroic service this Friday."
