EDINBURG Texas Border Patrol agents received information regarding a stash house on Wednesday afternoon. 52 immigrants from different countries and five smugglers were arrested.
Border Patrol Agents and officers from the Edinburg Police Department Hidalgo County Sheriffs Office and Hidalgo County Constables Office Pct. 4 conducted a joint investigation leading them to a residence in Edinburg Texas. After observing suspicious activity at the location law enforcement officials obtained consent to search the residence. Once inside agents located 57 immigrants five were identified as smugglers.

The immigrants apprehended are from Mexico El Salvador Guatemala Honduras and Nicaragua. All subjects were transported to the Weslaco Border Patrol Station and processed accordingly. The five smugglers have been referred to the RGV Sector Prosecutions Office.
The public is encouraged to take a stand against crime in their communities and to help save lives by reporting all suspicious activity to local authorities.
