Refocusing DHS's Office of Intelligence and Analysis

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – I was pleased to welcome Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to this week's Republican Study Committee (RSC) member meeting. The Department of Justice's newly formed Fraud Division is critical to rooting out waste and recovering taxpayer dollars, while the DOJ's enforcement on immigration and narcotics trafficking is protecting American communities. The RSC will continue working tirelessly alongside this administration to deliver results for the American people.

Refocusing DHS's Office of Intelligence and Analysis
As Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security's Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, I led a Subcommittee markup that advanced seven bipartisan bills aimed at reforming the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A).

Included in the bills was my "I&A Mission Reorientation Act of 2026" which refocuses I&A on its core mission to deliver timely, actionable intelligence to state and local partners on the front lines. The threats to our homeland are evolving, and our intelligence posture must keep pace, especially as we prepare to host major events like the 2026 World Cup and 2028 LA Olympic Games. Investing in the Next Generation of Airpower
I had a great discussion this week with fellow members of the For Country Caucus on today's readiness challenge and the urgent need to invest in American Airpower. The U.S. Air Force is currently flying the oldest and smallest fleet in its history as global threats intensify and more is being demanded of it than ever before.

We were grateful to hear from retired USAF Lt. General David Deptula and his candid insights on rebuilding capacity, modernizing aging aircraft, strengthening readiness, and ensuring the U.S. maintains air superiority for generations to come. As a former combat pilot with over 25 years of service, there is no greater advocate for our U.S. Air Force on Capitol Hill than me. We've seen what American Airpower can achieve. The time to invest in it is now.

Upholding Title IX for the Next Generation
As a father of three daughters who compete in sports, protecting their opportunities on and off the field is of the utmost importance to me. That's why I am proud to cosponsor the Title IX Clarification Act by Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) to ensure that the promise of Title IX is upheld for future generations.

This legislation would codify President Trump's revocation of a Biden-era Executive Order that directed the Secretary of Education to prohibit discrimination on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation. Taxpayer dollars should not be used to advance extreme social policies, and the Title IX Clarification Act will ensure that women and girls can compete on a fair playing field for the next fifty years.
