Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, our nation witnessed history. I had the distinct honor of watching the Artemis II astronauts return safely to Earth, standing inside Mission Control at Johnson Space Center as they completed the most dangerous phase of their mission. Splashdown is the hardest part of any journey to space, where precision, discipline, and courage must come together perfectly. And once again, America’s astronauts delivered.

These four brave men and women represent the very best of this country. Their strength, professionalism, and resolve reflect the spirit that has always set the United States apart. For ten days, the world watched as they traveled beyond low Earth orbit, pushing farther than any human has gone in over half a century.

I also had the opportunity to speak directly with these astronauts while they were in deep space. Hearing their voices from that distance was a powerful reminder of just how far American leadership can reach.
When I asked Christina Koch about a moment she would relive, she didn’t hesitate. She described witnessing a rare solar eclipse from space, watching the Moon pass in front of the Sun, with Earth, Mars, and even Saturn all visible in a single breathtaking view.
