AMES: Implement School Choice to Enhance Texas Public School Progress

PART IV in a Series: Require some sort of school choice By Bill Ames money-school3Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  Competition brings improvement and therefore it is important to provide an alternative to public schools that is available to low-income families as well as the well-to-do. However the requirement for some sort of school choice does not replace the need for reforming the public education system in Texas. There are over five million students in Texas K-12 public schools. In the forseeable future only a small percentage of these can be liberated by school choice legislation. TexasCapitolStarLegislative Action

-  Create a voucher system that provides funding for families who wish to spend the money on private school tuition.  It is important that the funds are allocated to the student and are used by the family to pay for their school of choice.
