WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — “Today our nation’s most imminent threat is self-inflicted – President Biden’s wide-open southern border," said Texas Congressman and House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19,) as he announced he would be introducing a series of amendments to prohibit President Joe Biden and his administration from utilizing a crucial set of government funding bills to advance his far-Left agenda – and fight back against Mr. Biden’s open border policies.
The U.S. House of Representatives will consider three aspending and Appropriations Bills this week:
- the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act
- the State, Foreign Operations& Related Programs Appropriations Act, and
- the Department of Defense Appropriations Act
“Biden’s refusal to secure the border and enforce the laws of the land has come at the expense of the safety and security of our nation’s citizens,” said Chairman Arrington.
Cong. Arrington introduced amendments to:
- Defund the Biden administration’s executive order that would unlawfully use taxpayer dollars to boost voter registration in blue areas of swing states.
- On March 7, 2021, President Biden issued an executive order to allow bureaucrats to use taxpayer funding to register voters, distribute vote-by-mail ballots, and more.
- Compel the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to implement DHS’s Office of Inspector General’s recommendations following its report, which includes improving screening and vetting of asylum seekers, detaining and removing inadmissible travelers, preventing the release of high-risk individuals, and more.
- Last week, two illegal immigrants were arrested for strangling a 12-year-old girl to death in Houston.
- This month, authorities arrested a Salvadorean gang member in the United States illegally for murdering a 37-year-old mother of five.
- Earlier this year, an illegal immigrant was arrested for the murder of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley.
- Terminate federal funding for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that engage in human trafficking and illegal immigration smuggling.
- Earlier this year, the State of Texas sued an NGO stating the organization was housing 300 migrants who were avoiding detection by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents.
- Prohibit Non-Governmental Organizations from using FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program to provide public services to illegal immigrants.
- Last year, reports exposed that the American Red Cross provided maps and guides for illegal immigrants detailing how best to illegally cross the border.
- Heritage Foundation found that over $332 million from FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program was being used for services for illegal immigrants, including housing and transportation.
- Defund the Office of the Secretary of State until the State Department implements sanctions against International Criminal Court (ICC) officials.
- Last month, after the International Criminal Court recommended issuing an arrest warrant against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Arrington demanded the U.S. sanction ICC officials in response.
- Prohibit DHS from contracting out to other federal agencies to provide services for illegal immigrants.
- Last year, a report from DHS detailed that the agency contracted with the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to help DHS provide medical car for illegal immigrants, despite the VA’s backlog of hundreds of thousands of cases for our nation’s veterans.
