ARRINGTON: News from Washington & West Texas

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Abilene Brownfield Floydada Ralls Muleshoe and Wolfforth were a few of my stops during last weeks district work period. Much of my time involved celebrating the successes of our small businesses and job creators during National Small Business Week while other events focused on humbly bowing our heads asking for Gods blessing and continued watch over our nation during National Day of Prayer. Celebrating Small Businesses Last week we celebrated the engines of growth driving the US economy our small businesses. Almost 30 million small businesses across our country employ nearly half of Americans working in the private sector and two-thirds of all new jobs are created by small businesses. Small business men and women all across our great land are a big part of the American dream and an entrepreneurial mindset is deeply engrained in the American spirit. Fortunately for our small businesses the economic environment due to lower taxes and regulations has set these job creators up for even greater success. I was happy to join the Abilene Chamber of Commerces Wake Up Wednesday in honor of Small Business Week! Congratulations to the businesses who were honored last week during the Chambers festivities!

Final Check for Our Bomber Base Through award-winning community support and the most capable Airmen in the Armed Forces Dyess Air Force Base has uniquely positioned itself as an indispensable weapon in our national defense arsenal. I am proud the Air Force recognized Dyess proven ability to command the skies by selecting our base to enter the final stage of the process to house the next generation of bomber aircraft the B-21 Raider. The B-1s and C-130Js at Dyess play an ever-expanding role in our national security and humanitarian efforts and as overseas tensions continue to escalate the B-21 will ensure our military can continue to project American strength around the globe. The Airmen stationed at Dyess are well-aware of the critical importance of their mission and their commitment and resolve in carrying it out has long been a point of pride for both their superiors in the Air Force and their neighbors in the city of Abilene. I always call Dyess a crown jewel of West Texas and todays announcement gets us one step closer to cementing that jewel for the next generation and beyond. Taking Ahold of Our Immigration Policies Unfortunately our current immigration laws are weak and encourage people to game the system." In the situation of the migrant caravan Mexico has assisted in overcrowding our immigration facilities. Its time Mexico steps up and receives some of these migrants in the caravan rather than simply leading them to our border for us to deal with. I joined Fox Business to discuss what we can do to close the loopholes strengthen standards and secure our southern border. See here for the interview. National Day of Prayer This past Thursday I joined the good people of Wolfforth and Muleshoe for National Day of Prayer. This years theme was unity which serves as a reminder of how important it is for us all to come together as Americans as communities and as families to love one another as Jesus loves each one of us. The motto E Pluribus Unum"  out of many one  hangs overhead on the Capitol rotunda and reminds me that we are stronger as a nation when we are unified and come together as one. Another Positive Report Great news for all Americans unemployment is at its lowest level since 2000! Our push for tax reform and regulatory relief has shown that when you get the heavy hand of government off the back of hardworking Americans there are no limits to how high our economy can climb. See herefor the Aprils job report. Please know it is an honor to be your Representative. Feel free to reach out to our office and let me know how I can best serve you.
