CONG. BABIN: 250 Years of the U.S. Army

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saturday, we celebrated 250 years of the United States Army—two and a half centuries of courage, sacrifice, and unwavering service to our great nation. Every day, our soldiers stand ready to protect the freedoms we hold dear and uphold the values that make America exceptional.

Serving in the U.S. Army was one of the greatest honors of my life. It gave me a deeper appreciation for this country, the men and women who wear the uniform, and the high calling to defend liberty.

From the battles of our founding to the challenges of today, the Army has always answered the call. This we’ll Defend.

Protecting Your Tax Dollars
Last week, the House passed a major rescissions package—reclaiming $9.4 BILLION in wasteful, unused government funds identified by President Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). I proudly voted for it.

This legislation claws back taxpayer dollars that were approved in previous budgets but never spent, often sitting in government accounts, earmarked for unnecessary or outdated projects. It’s one of the most direct tools we have to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, without touching essential services.

The package passed 214–212 and includes the elimination of funding for absurd items like a PBS documentary advocating reparations, children’s programming featuring drag queens, NPR content on “queer animals” and “fat-phobia,” and millions in questionable foreign aid—from the UN Human Rights Council to “Net Zero Cities” in Mexico.

As a fiscal conservative, I believe the American people deserve better than to see their hard-earned money funneled into these kinds of programs. This package is a strong step toward reining in runaway spending and putting our country back on a path to fiscal sanity.

Iran Escalates—Israel Responds with Strength
Iran has once again made its intentions clear: it has no interest in peace and no respect for international agreements. Last week, the International Atomic Energy Agency officially found Iran in violation of its nuclear nonproliferation commitments—the first such declaration in nearly 20 years. On top of that, the regime announced plans to build a new uranium enrichment facility, moving even further down the path of nuclear aggression. President Trump has given Iran countless opportunities to choose peace, but it continues to double down on violence and deception.

In response, Israel took military action, targeting key missile sites, nuclear infrastructure, and high-ranking Iranian military officials. These strikes were not only necessary, they were justified.

Israel has every right to defend itself against a regime that calls for its destruction. I stand shoulder to shoulder with our closest ally in the Middle East as it confronts the growing threat of a nuclear Iran. Prime Minister Netanyahu, the Israeli Defense Forces, and Mossad continue to act with courage and precision in defense of their people, and the free world.

America’s support for Israel remains ironclad—today and always.
