Happy Birthday, United States Air Force
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last month, while visiting NASA Johnson Space Center, President Trump signed an executive order announcing the launch of the United States Space Academy. For more than six decades, Texas has been where America’s human spaceflight dreams become reality.
This past year, Americans have had a front-row seat to NASA’s capabilities and to what American leadership in space looks like. Governor Abbott plans to submit a proposal for Texas to host the U.S. Space Academy, and this week, alongside Senator Cruz, I expressed my support. America’s space program is built across the country, but Texas is where the pieces come together.
As Chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I have had the honor of overseeing NASA in Congress, and I look forward to showing why Texas is the right home for the U.S. Space Academy.
House Passes the Water Resources Development Act
This week, the Water Resources and Development Act passed the House. This bill invests in America’s ports, waterways, flood control systems, and infrastructure and has nationwide implications for the U.S. economy. It especially hits home as I represent Port Houston, the Houston Ship Channel, Cedar Port, and Port Arthur, some of our nation’s most critical maritime assets.
I am especially proud of how this bill delivers for Southeast Texas. It authorizes the review of excess federal lands in Chambers, Galveston, and Harris Counties, expedites the Cedar Port feasibility study, and clarifies the Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund allocation requirements.
I look forward to the ways this will help move critical projects forward, strengthen our ports and waterways, and ensure Southeast Texas remains a critical engine of American commerce. You can watch my remarks on the House floor HERE:
