Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Our nation is facing an epidemic. It’s one the world has seen before and knows well, if we’re willing to turn back the pages of history.

Thirty years ago, we saw communism sweep the world, and the United States of America drew a line in the sand, determined it would end with us. Not even half a century later, it’s coming in through the back door, quietly and subtly as it takes root in our classrooms and universities and spills over into our cities.

The Democrat party is going through a critical fracture. Hakeem Jeffries now appears moderate in light of today’s progressive democrats, and the choice between common sense and crazy has never been clearer to the American people.

The mayor of what was once the greatest city in the world is handing out free housing and child care and dreaming of socialist grocery stores throughout New York City.

A love of country and a willingness to fight for justice, freedom, and democracy used to be the threshold for running for public office. Today, hate is the ticket to the podium, and it’s catching like wildfire in the name of socialism and “progress.”

The only problem with socialism is that it’s a bill full of lies. It never looks as shiny to the Middle Class American in real life as it does to the elite on paper. And unfortunately, it’s the Trojan horse that communism is riding in on.

Capitalism works. The free market works. Deregulation works. Democracy works. We must protect it at all costs. The America our children and grandchildren come to know depends on it. As we confront the international threat China poses, we must also be willing to confront the threat lurking at our back door in Minneapolis, New York, and Los Angeles. Communism is too deadly, and freedom is too good to give it up so easily.

Funding the Government Through December
House Republicans stepped up this week to responsibly fund the government with a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) while we work to finalize conservative full-year appropriations bills. The Senate must act swiftly and get this to the President's desk to avoid another costly and disruptive government shutdown.

I remain confident that we will pass all twelve appropriations bills, as House Republicans proved that it was possible to return to regular order last year. Democrats have proven they are willing to shut down the government and hold American families, troops, and small businesses hostage to appease their radical base. Republicans are doing what our constituents sent us here to do: govern.
