Babin: Tax Day Relief, Straight from East Texans

The result is simple: more freedom to keep what you earn, support your family, and invest in your future right here at home.

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – This Tax Day felt different, and not just because of what I’m hearing in Washington, but because of what I’m hearing back home. Don’t just take it from me. East Texans are already seeing real relief in their paychecks, their businesses, and their retirement security.

For folks in the service industry, like my friend Loria Flanigan, the manager of the world-famous Pickett House, this means keeping more of what they earn every single shift. Tips are no longer chipped away by Washington, giving workers a direct boost in their take-home pay.

For others, long hours on the job are finally paying off the way they should. East Texas linemen like John Harris and Martin Spurlock—and hardworking Americans across the country who rely on overtime—are now seeing that extra effort rewarded, not taxed.

And for our seniors, it means peace of mind. After a lifetime of work, they can now keep more of their Social Security without worrying about it being taxed away. I spoke to Kay Timme, the President of the Tyler County Heritage Society, about this provision for seniors:

On April 15th, Americans were finally able to keep more of their hard-earned money. By cutting through Washington’s red tape, we delivered real, lasting relief for working families across our country.

Here in East Texas, folks work too hard to hand over more of their paycheck to Washington every April. That’s why I was proud to vote to pass the Working Families Tax Cut, putting money back where it belongs: in your pocket.

Millions of Americans are already seeing the difference, with larger refunds and greater financial breathing room. By lowering taxes and rolling back burdensome regulations, we are restoring opportunity for Americans.

The result is simple: more freedom to keep what you earn, support your family, and invest in your future right here at home.
