Babin: Winning the Future of Warfare

The UNaffordable Care Act - Obamacare has been flawed from the start

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, I proudly voted for the National Defense Authorization Act. This is crucial to achieving President Trump’s Peace Through Strength Agenda. The American war-fighting machine is the best in the world, and President Trump and Secretary Hegseth are charting the path for it to stay that way. America’s goal is always to maintain peace, but to do that, we need a strong deterrent. There is no greater deterrent than the American military.

Under the Biden Administration, our military was wasted on radical, liberal initiatives that weakened our nation’s defense. As Chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I’m also proud to say that the NDAA included provisions to accelerate space capabilities that counter Chinese and Russian nuclear arsenals, as well as space surveillance. We must continue to stay one step ahead of our adversaries, equipping the Space Force with everything it needs to advance American interests. Space is the next battleground, and we’re not ignoring it.

The UNaffordable Care Act
Obamacare has been flawed from the start. Last week, a Government Accountability Office report revealed serious vulnerabilities and widespread fraud within the Affordable Care Act marketplace. The report found that the system approved 100 percent of fake applicants as recently as 2024, exposing just how broken and unaccountable the program has become.

According to the GAO, 58,000 Social Security numbers that received advance premium tax credits matched Social Security Administration death records. In addition, more than 7,000 individuals were confirmed to have been deceased before their coverage even began, meaning applications were submitted using the Social Security numbers of people who had already passed away. As a result, an estimated $94 million in taxpayer-funded subsidies was sent to health insurance companies on behalf of deceased individuals.

While large insurance companies continue to benefit, hardworking Americans are left facing higher premiums, rising deductibles, and fewer choices. This system has taken advantage of the American people since its inception, and these findings make clear that meaningful reform is long overdue. Americans deserve fairness, accountability, and transparency in their healthcare system, and I will not settle for anything less.

I will continue working to expose waste, protect taxpayers, and keep you updated as efforts move forward to fix what is clearly broken.

Advancing American Infrastructure
I had the opportunity to speak at the Department of Transportation’s Ideas and Innovation Challenge Day this week. Innovative Americans presented over 400 proposals, competing for $1 million in prizes to fund technologies that will improve our nation and the world. Transportation has been at the heart of our great country, and I’m proud of the contribution from TX-36. Supply chains that are moved up and down I-69, rail networks, and trade within the Houston Ship Channel are critical backbones in our nation’s infrastructure. I’m eager to see the ways the next generation continues to utilize and improve critical infrastructure to advance American ingenuity.
