AUSTIN, TX – Today, the Baptist Ministers Association of Houston and Vicinity announced their endorsement of Senator Dawn Buckingham, MD (R-Lakeway) for Texas Land Commissioner. The BMAH&V is one of the oldest and most respected associations of African American religious leaders in Houston.Dr. Dawn Buckingham is an experienced oculoplastic surgeon, an avid hunter, a 7th-generation Texan, and a lifelong conservative Republican.
“I’m honored to have the support of the Baptist Ministers Association of Houston and Vicinity in the race for Texas Land Commissioner,” said Buckingham.
“My faith and commitment to service is what first called me to elected office and it’s what continues to drive me in this campaign. Regardless of race, background, or political party, I want all people of faith to know that I will approach the responsibilities of this office with a servant’s heart and be a Land Commissioner for all Texans.”
In 2016, Buckingham was elected to represent District 24 in the Texas Senate, a 17-county region of West Texas and the Texas Hill Country.
