Theres also much greater general public for probing Bidens wrongdoings than there is for impeachment
WASHINGTON D.C. (Texas Insider Report) According to a new Investors Business Daily/TIPP poll Joe Bidens campaign has seen its support among independent voters evaporate after weeks of struggling to respond to allegations of corruption and abuse of power regarding his sons shady business dealings in Ukraine. The dealings emerged as Democrats moved to begin impeachment inquiries into President Trumps dealing with foreign leaders.
The IBD/TIPP Poll has been noted for its accuracy in the past as it was one of the only two nationwide polls that correctly predicted President Trumps victory in 2016 the other being the USC/Los Angeles Times poll.
And a solid majority of respondents in the Sept. 26th to Oct. 3rd poll favor a probe of Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
In fact the polls found there is much greater support among the general public for a probe into the Bidens wrongdoings than there is for impeachment:
- 57 said they support a Biden probe specifically a Justice Department investigation of Biden and his sons dealings or actions in Ukraine and China
- While 37 said they would be against a probe into the Biden allegations
After questions about Hunter Bidens Ukrainian questionable business dealings became the focus it quickly became know that he also had ties with an investment firm that raised funds in China.
- Among independents 47 support looking into Bidens wrongdoings while 38 are opposed.
And polls indicates that the Ukraine scandal has yet to hurt Mr. Trumps approval rating or his 2020 election prospects. In fact the president has cut Bidens advantage in head-to-head match-ups nearly in half when compared to the September poll.
As a result of the impeachment inquiry the poll found that 15 of respondents said they were now more likely to vote for President Trumps re-election while 18 said they were more likely to vote against him.
Meanwhile as a result of the Ukraine story 23 are now more likely to vote against the former vice president while 8 said they were more likely to vote for him.
The poll found numerous mixed results regarding Americans current sentiments towards both President Donald Trump and former Vice President Biden with Trump ultimately coming out ahead and improving on his performance in the previous poll in September.
The poll found that President Trumps job approval rating has increased despite the Democrats impeachment efforts rising four points from 39 to 43 while disapproval dropped from 55 to 54.
Biden took a much greater hit across the board.
Although Biden still holds a lead in a general election scenario his support among independents completely collapsed from an 18-point lead 55 to 37 to a mere one-point 46 to 45 lead well within the polls margin of error.
Democrat insiders say they believe it appears that even the Biden campaign is acknowledging the struggles it is suddenly facing having recently held a secret meeting with top donors to address the campaigns sagging poll numbers and fundraising totals as well as Sen. Elizabeth Warren surge into first place in numerous polls.
The IBD/TIPP Poll reflects responses from 900 adults contacted via mobile phones and landlines from Sept. 26th through Oct. 3rd. It carries a 3.3-point margin of error. Ukraine-related questions reflect the views of a subset of 748 people following the recent news about Trumps call with the Ukrainian president.
