Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. This week I was honored to be appointed to the most prestigious investigatory panel in the U.S. House of Representatives the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
This new appointment will allow me to bring my background as a former U.S. Attorney and federal terrorism prosecutor to oversight that encompasses the broader intelligence community of our U.S. government and military. In addition to this role I will continue my service on the House Judiciary Committee as ranking member of the Subcommittee on Crime Terrorism and Homeland Security; the House Homeland Security Committee; and the House Ethics Committee.
I firmly believe that protecting the safety and security of our fellow citizens is the preeminent function of the federal government. And Im very grateful for the opportunity Ive been given to help ensure that the rule of law is properly upheld and that justice is properly served across our entire government especially when it comes to the most sensitive matters of our national security.
I look forward to getting to work right away on fulfilling the House Intelligence Committees duty to oversee the U.S. Intelligence Community and the Military Intelligence Program author annual legislation to authorize funding for these programs and conduct ongoing congressional investigations pertaining to related national intelligence matters.
