Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – In July, Pope Leo XIV announced the appointment of Bishop Daniel E. Garcia as the sixth Bishop of the Diocese of Austin. We are happy to welcome you to his Installation on September 18, 2025. Prior to this appointment, Bishop Garcia, a native Texan, was ordained a priest and served in various leadership roles here in Central Texas before being installed at as Bishop of Monterey, California in 2019. Today we celebrate his return!
Mass of Installation
When: Thursday, September 18, 2025
Where: St William Catholic Church in Round Rock
Time: The entrance procession begins at 1:45 pm.
Doors open at 12 pm
The Installation will be celebrated with over 30 bishops from Texas, California, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, 460 clergy and religious sisters, 255 parish representatives, about 100 Catholic School principals and students and a host of family, friends and special guests who have been invited to celebrate this day filling the 1500 person church to capacity.
There will be a RESERVED MEDIA SECTION in the church.
- Upon arrival at the Church entrance, ask for Camille Garcia.
- This is a 2 -hour event – the most symbolic portion of the Mass occurs within the first 45 minutes. Note – the entrance procession takes approximately 20+ minutes.
- Media access to the Church will be extended upon approval of a Communications Team member.
- This is a sacred event, and we ask that attire be modest.
