Blue States Love Free Money - Unless It’s For School Choice

Stephen Moore: Unleash Prosperity Hotline – Thanks to Trump's Big Beautiful Bill, starting next year, every taxpayer will be able to donate up to $1700 to a scholarship granting organization and claim a dollar-for-dollar credit on their federal taxes. But the scholarships can only be issued to students in states where the governor opts in.

The same Dems who will run to the edges of the earth to chase down more federal dollars for Medicaid, food stamps and Somalian day care centers have rejected the charitable scholarship funds to help kids in their states pay the tuition at private and religious schools that actually get results.

They are so attached at the hip to the teacher unions that they reject the free dollars. So far, the only exception is Colorado Governor Jared Polis. Amazing.

Remember this the next time the Liberals profess how much they care about “the children.”

Notice that in addition to Colorado, two other states with Democratic governors are opted in. Virginia is in because Glenn Youngkin submitted the form before he left office. Kentucky is in because the Republican state legislature passed an opt-in law over the governor's veto.
