Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas This August Im holding dozens of town hall meetings throughout our nine-county district to get your input on the House GOPs built for growth tax blueprint.
Im excited to lead this ground-breaking tax reform proposal which experts predict will spark explosive small business growth. Its historical the first time since before President Reagan that House Republicans have coalesced around a plan to fix Americas costly complex and unfair tax code.
The blueprint which can be found at
Better.gop and the House Ways & Means Committee
website proposes three major reforms: the lowest rates on business in modern time to spur local job growth a fair and simple tax code that most Americans can file on a postcard and busting up the IRS.
But this is not our tax code America it is yours. For the first time you have a real say in how youre taxed. Thats why Im holding dozens of town halls and telephone town hall meetings this month.
Ive already held 16 - at Woodys Smokehouse in Centerville Paradise Grill in Coldspring Moosehead Caf in Crockett with the Concerned Women of America and Farm Bureau in Huntsville the Lions Club and Tea Party leaders in Madisonville GOP and community leaders in Trinity with women realtors Rotarians charitable groups chambers of commerce and breakfast clubs in Montgomery County...and we are just getting started. Simple Fair Postcard" Tax Filing
One of the key reforms in the blueprint is a tax code so simple and fair it can be filed on a postcard. For years Americans have asked for a tax code thats understandable without hundreds of special interest provisions for a few. Thats exactly what we propose a post-card filing form for more than 95 of Americans.
The postcard proposal flattens the tax brackets into just three lowers the tax rates at each level and increases the standard deduction. It cuts taxes even further on savings and investment like interest dividends and capital gains. It keeps important provisions for families like the home mortgage and charitable deduction child tax credit and help with college or a technical school.
At the town hall meeting we ask our taxpayers if they want something just that fair just that simple. It means eliminating hundreds of special interest provisions so we can lower tax rates and let people keep more of their hard-earned dollars so you not Washington choose how to spend your money. What do you want?
District 8 is So Proud of our Local Olympians
When I get home from our town hall meetings the Olympics in Rio is must-see TV for me. So many Americans are making us proud including our Olympians from the 8
th Congressional District: gold medal champion Simone Biles the exciting diver Kassidy Cook and Stacy Lewis one of the top women golfers in the world who takes to the links this week in Rio.
We are proud too that our congressional district is home to the coordinator of USA Gymnastics Marta Karolyi and her training camp near New Waverly. Marta and the Final Five are great ambassadors for America and true champions
