Brady Votes for National Defense Authorization Act

"This NDAA greatly benefits all Americans, and I will always fight to keep our military strong and our nation secure.”

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. –Today, Congressman Kevin Brady (TX-08) released the following statement after the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2022 passed the House of Representatives:

“For 61 consecutive years, Congress has come together to pass the National Defense Authorization Act to ensure our Armed Forces have the tools and resources they need to defend our nation. I am proud to have voted for this crucial legislation that grows, preserves, and expands upon President Trump’s rebuilding of our military—the greatest in the world. This bill also gives our troops a pay raise, demands answers on President Biden’s catastrophic surrender in Afghanistan, and eliminates red flag gun laws and women in the draft as promised by Republican leaders. This NDAA greatly benefits all Americans, and I will always fight to keep our military strong and our nation secure.”

The FY22 NDAA as voted on in the House of Representatives:
  • Reverses President Biden’s reckless cuts to our national security, restoring funding for shipbuilding, procurement and missile defense
  • Includes Republicans’ $25 billion boost to defense topline, ensuring growth of 5 percent over FY21
  • Removes poison pills like red flag gun laws and women in military drafts that Republicans oppose
  • Incudes crucial safeguards to prevent Russian and Chinese officials from accessing U.S. missile defense sites
  • Authorizes a 2.7% pay increase for servicemembers
  • Prohibits the use of DoD funds to conduct research, including biomedical, infectious disease, and genomic research in China or with any entity controlled by the Chinese Communist Party
  • Strengthens Homeland Security by directing additional National Guard resources to the border and requiring an assessment of the impact on military readiness of DoD transporting illegal immigrants
  • Requires DoD and DNI to assess the involvement of the Chinese Communist Party in the origins of COVID-19
