BREAKING: California Democrat Who Served as State Senate Majority Leader, Announces She's Now Registered as Republican &'ll be Voting for Donald Trump

"I cannot, in good conscience, support policies like promoting sex changes for vulnerable children, and dismantling Title IX protections for Women in Sports.”

AUSTIN, Texas (Texas Insider Report) — "Today, I say goodbye – Adios. I've had enough. I'm now another near life-long Democrat who is joining the growing number of people – including key groups like Latinos – who are leaving the Democratic Party. As the sun was rising today, I changed my voting registration to Republican – which has under Donald Trump become the champion of working people – and indeed, I will vote for Donald Trump this fall," said California Democrat Gloria Romero, who served as the State's Senate Majority Leader, announcing that she is leaving the Democrat Party and will be voting for former President Trump this November.

“This is not the Democratic Party that I once championed,” said Romero, speaking in front of the California State Capitol building earlier today. (Click for News Conf. Video at right.)

I do not recognize it anymore, and I cannot continue," Romero said, recalling her roles as the Democrat Convention Delegate for the Rev. Jesse Jackson, then for former President Barack Obama at three separate conventions, while noting that her heroes growing up were Democrat titans Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Robert F. Kennedy.

Romero's announcement comes after a Democrat Texas State Legislator who represents Houston in the Texas House of Representatives also recently switched political party affiliations from Democrat to Republican.

Now an influential and well-known California Democrat is doing the same.

Texas State Representative Shawn Thierry announced recently that she was leaving the Democrat Party for the GOP, saying:

“The Democratic Party has veered so far left, so deep into the progressive abyss, that it now champions policies I cannot, in good conscience, support – policies like promoting sex changes for vulnerable children, and dismantling Title IX protections for women in sports,” Thierry said in a press release posted on X.

As she nears the end of her term, Thierry (right,) will serve her remaining four months in the Texas Legislature as a Republican State Representative.

Thierry gained notoriety among her ranks last year when she voiced opposition to gender-transition surgeries and treatment for minors in an emotional speech on the Texas house floor. She also backed a bill designed to remove sexually explicit materials from school libraries – which its detractors claim would target LGBTQ+ books.

As a practicing Baptist with deep religious convictions, Thierry said she could not stand by as Democrats stood against common-sense policies that could so adversely impact Texas' youth.

“I have witnessed firsthand how the left stifles thoughtful debate, silences dissent, and demands blind allegiance to an ideology that is anti-family and anti-children,” she said.

“If you question or disagree, they will cancel you. This is why so many former Democrats plan to vote Republican in November.”

For her reasoning, she accused the Democrats of stifling democracy, going so far as to compare them to Latin American dictators. She said the party rigs primaries against candidates such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and executed a “political coup” against President Joe Biden.

Romero also mentioned the Democrat's so-called advocacy for women’s rights, criticizing the undermining of Title IX protections and going too far on the issues of abortion. immigration, crime – while also referring to the everyday rising costs of living as topics of her criticism as well.

“But perhaps my biggest disconnect with my old party has been over school choice, education freedom, and the right to have quality schools for all – especially as Congressman Kevin Kiley and I have fought together –  especially for school choice for poor and minority children who are trapped in chronically failing schools,” Romero said.

Romero concluded that she left the party “with sadness, but it is with the belief that this is best for the future."

"I stayed for as long as I could. I tried reforms, I spoke out, I voted.

"Today I turn to the future. A land of opportunity and free speech.

"I am excited to join a party that was started by the greatest American, Abraham Lincoln, and the challenges of building a new great republic,” Romero concluded.
