Senator Brandon Creighton Resigns, Brett Ligon Announces Candidacy for Texas Senate

Montgomery County District Attorney Declares for Creighton Senate Seat

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas (CONROE, TX) – Brett Ligon, the longest serving District Attorney in Montgomery County history, kicks off his campaign today for the Texas Senate SD4. Mr. Ligon will follow in the footsteps of Senator Brandon Creighton, who resigned his position today.

“Brandon Creighton leaves a lasting legacy in Senate District 4 for his years of selfless service and will long be remembered as a giant in the Texas Capitol for his incredible leadership on a wide range of issues,” said Ligon. “Texas Tech is getting one of the brightest stars as their new Chancellor. I am proud to call Brandon my friend.

“I have spent the last 30+ years focused on public safety and law enforcement. I’ve earned a reputation for the relentless pursuit of justice.

“I have prosecuted public corruption. I have taken on the most powerful institutions when they have failed the public. From common thugs and violent criminals to organized crime and international cartels, I don’t back down.

“When I was first elected District Attorney, I adopted the motto “Fiat justitia, ruat caelum” – Let justice be done though the heavens fall.

“One of the most pressing issues facing Texas and the nation today is public safety. Much of this stems from problems on our southern border. While the public is fearful of crime and violence, our society has developed a lack of civility, manifesting itself in callousness and disregard for life and liberty.

“While my background best equips me to focus on public safety and criminal justice issues, you can be assured I intend to dive right into fiscal discipline, affordable and accessible healthcare, infrastructure, economic development, and ensuring Texas remains the very best place to live, work, and raise a family.

“I am asking the people of SD4 for their trust and their vote. I can assure you that no one will work harder than I to earn it,”
Ligon concluded.
