This bipartisan bill will establish clear performance metrics for detecting, deterring, and seizing fentanyl — and break down the information silos that have hampered a coordinated federal response.
By Congressman Michael McCaul
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Fentanyl is the number one killer of young Americans between the ages of 18 and 45. Every single day, moms and dads across Texas, and across this entire nation, are burying their children.
This isn't just a law enforcement crisis. It’s a generational crisis. It’s a national security threat to our youth and a moral failure if we do not use every tool at our disposal to crush it.
I was proud to introduce the FEND Off Fentanyl Act, which was signed into law, to target illicit supply chains and sanction the dangerous cartels.
But stopping the supply abroad is only half the battle. We must be just as coordinated within our own borders, which is why I’m proud to be a co-lead of the Measuring Illicit Fentanyl Trafficking Act with Congressman James Walkinshaw.
This bipartisan bill will establish clear performance metrics for detecting, deterring, and seizing fentanyl — and break down the information silos that have hampered a coordinated federal response.
I believe that we owe it to every single American family that has been shattered by the fentanyl epidemic to set things right, and these measures will ensure DHS has the tools and methods in place to decisively stop the flow of this deadly drug into our nation and save American lives.
Protecting Our Livestock
Before it was eradicated half a century ago, a brutal parasite known as New World Screwworm wreaked havoc on livestock and ruthlessly damaged economies across the southwest. Now, it has reemerged — posing a serious threat to the agricultural backbone of our state.
Preventing a similar tragedy will require re-education, training, and additional resources to swiftly detect cases and stop new infections. That's why I’m proud to cosponsor the bipartisan Protecting America's Herds Act, which will train producers on NWS identification and treatment, enhance coordination between key animal health organizations, and prioritize funding for communities at elevated risk of spread.
Back home, no entity is better equipped than Texas A&M AgriLife to lead the fight and protect our ranches. I commend the U.S. Department of Agriculture for recognizing their exceptional work and including them in a new $105 million research grant. Texans are stepping up to protect our livestock and livelihoods from this brutal parasite, and the federal government must do the same.

Congratulations to Grimes County on securing an agreement with SpaceX, which has committed to investing billions of dollars into the area as part of its visionary Terafab project!
In an effort to decrease reliance on foreign chip manufacturers, Elon Musk's Texas-based company has been looking for a location to build a new cutting-edge semiconductor facility. This week SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen officially signed an agreement to do so in the Brazos Valley.
By approving the SpaceX reinvestment zone, Judge Joe Fauth and other county leaders were able to land one of the largest domestic manufacturing investments in American history. This facility will not only bring a massive economic boost and thousands of jobs to Texas’ 10th district, but it will also bolster U.S. national security for years to come by ensuring more chips are made in America!
