Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) today met with General David Goldfein Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force to discuss the investigation into 26-year-old Devin P. Kelley alleged Sutherland Springs Texas shooter. On Sunday Kelley took the lives of at least 26 churchgoers including at least 12 children. He was convicted of domestic violence in 2014 while serving at the Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.
I met with Gen. Goldfein today to get more details about how and why Devin Kelleys criminal history was not reflected in the proper databases which would have prevented him from being able to purchase firearms" Congressman Cuellar said. The General briefed me on the thorough review and retraining process the Air Force and the Department of Defense as a whole is conducting to ensure that nothing like this happens again."
The Air Force family lost at least 12 members directly connected to the service either service members or their family members in Sutherland Springs on Sunday. Members of the Air Force will be with me on Saturday at the Community Center in Sutherland Springs providing support services" Cuellar added.
