Cong. Culberson: On Passage of the National Defense Authorization Act

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Following passage of H.R. 2810 the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) conference report for fiscal year 2018 Representative John Culberson (TX-07) issued the following statement:
This years NDAA advances the vital funding and authorities necessary to ensure the continued strength of the United States military and to empower the great men and women that serve our nation. It provides the largest pay raise for our troops in the last 8 years and continues to rebuild Americas Armed Forces by increasing the troop levels of each service branch.  We are investing in critical warfighting capabilities that will ensure we remain two steps ahead of the enemy. By providing a $26.4 billion increase above the Presidents budget request Congress will make investments in facilities maintenance missile defense end strength Naval presence ground forces aviation assets and critical munitions levels. A renewed focus on these key areas is essential to Americas readiness and response to the many challenges and growing threats we face from many adversaries in many warfighting domains. Additionally the NDAA rightfully provides robust assistance to Americas most loyal friend Israel by dedicating approximately $705 million for co-production and co-development of Israeli missile defense systems including Iron Dome Davids Sling and Arrow.  By authorizing this spending the United States once again solidifies its unyielding support and defense of Israels safety security and prosperity. Im proud to join my colleagues in strong support of this legislation."
