CONG. GONZALES: 'I'm a NO on Any Continuing Resolution... America Demands a Secure Border'

Gonzales leads other prominent Republicans in opposing measure to extend negotiations several months.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — With yet another impending government shutdown approaching soon after Members of Congress return from their "August Recess" in a few short weeks, Congressman Tony Gonzales of Texas’ 23rd District stepped to the front of the line the other day by voicing his strong opposition to any Continuing Resolution bill – as some like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer suggested earlier this week – unless serious spending concessions are made by House Democrats.

Gonzales, who represents the largest border district in the United States with a whopping 42% of the entire U.S.-Mexico Border, says the Biden White House is not doing their part to help alleviate the current Border Crisis.

Additionally, the congressman pointed to excessive and outlandish financial waste within the current spending package.

In a recent tweet last week, Gonzales said:

“America demands a secure border. I am a NO on any Continuing Resolution that only kicks the can down the road.

"Lock Congress in a room until we pass a conservative budget – void of excess financial waste.”

This comes as some members of Congress have begun floating a short-term budget bill that would provide temporary government funding to allow lawmakers more time to negotiate.

Gonzales joins several other prominent Republicans in opposing this measure to extend negotiations several months.

According to Dept. of Homeland Security statistics, illegal migrant apprehensions rose by over 30% during the month of July

Experts expect that number to grow in the coming months, as temperatures fall.
