This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity and I am confident in the direction that President Trump and Republicans have taken...Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. We need a tax code that spurs job creation and encourages growth we need to jumpstart this economy and the time to do so is right now said Cong. Roger Williams (RAustin) a small business owner and employer for 43 years after House Republicans released the Unified Framework for Fixing our Broken Tax Code.
After 31 years of an outdated and burdensome tax code I am encouraged by todays proposed Tax Reform Framework that will finally provide tax cuts across the board and offer financial relief to hardworking Americans.Ever since I was sent to Washington by the people of Texas 25th District I have been fighting for substantial and meaningful tax reform with my planJumpstart America. Many of the concepts I introduced during my first term are included in this framework such as simplifying the personal tax brackets repealing the death tax and reducing the corporate tax rate to 20 percent. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity and I am confident in the direction that President Trump and Republicans have taken in order to provide relief to the American people. We still have much work to do to ensure Americans are prosperous and our economy flourishes.I believe that we can achieve these shared goals and my plan can help to get us there. At the end of the day" said Williams.
Equifax Data Breach UpdateAs Ive stated from the beginning my first concern is the American consumer. It is of the utmost importance that consumers feel confident in their financial security and as promised the House Committee on Financial Services will hold a hearing to question Former Equifax CEO and Chairman Richard Smith on Thursday.
My colleagues and I are working hard to ensure someone is held accountable for this outrageous violation of personal privacy.
Legislative UpdateLast week: I sent a letter to President Trump urging him to ensure that religious organizations and churches affected by Hurricane Harvey receive funding from FEMA in order to rebuild.
In addition to voting on 13 pieces of legislation I co-sponsored three pieces of legislation: H.R. 1150H.R. 2832H.R. 3053 and a piece of pending legislation known as the PASS Act.
This week: Well be voting on H.R. 36 the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Actwhich is particularly close to my heart. We are also scheduled to vote on the Budget Resolutionat the end of this week which will be the vehicle to get us to tax reform.
The House Committee on Financial Services will hold three full committee hearings that you can watch herehere and here. The third hearing which will be held on Thursday will be our first chance to question Former Equifax CEO and Chairman Richard Smith.
It is an honor and privilege to represent the people of Texas 25th Congressional District. And as always please reach out to me with any issues and concerns that are important to you.
