Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON DC Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee and Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Crime Terrorism Homeland Security and Investigations released the following statement today as it relates to the arson attack on the Republican Party office in Hillsborough North Carolina:
On October 15 2016 the Republican Party office in Hillsborough North Carolina was firebombed and vandalized a criminal act of violence that strikes at the heart of the American electoral system which is the heart of American democracy. Violence and illegal acts that threaten the ability of citizens to exercise the precious right to vote cannot be tolerated and must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. During a time when political tensions are on the rise and the right to vote is in a state of historic vulnerability no effort must be spared to ensure the integrity of the electoral system and of every American to cast a vote and to have that vote counted.
That is why I have today called upon U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch and the Department of Justice to investigate the incident in Hillsborough North Carolina and take aggressive action to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice and to take appropriate steps to ensure that the right to vote of all Americans remains inviolate."
