Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Earlier this year, President Donald Trump stood up for our veterans, signing an executive order to accelerate the development of, and access to, psychedelic therapies that could save lives and reverse America’s mental health crisis.
Congress must follow his lead and codify this action into law. That’s why I introduced the Initiating Biomedical Outcomes to Garner Advancements into Innovative Neuroplastogen Efficacy (IBOGAINE) Act to cement this potential breakthrough for our veterans. According to a study published by Stanford University School of Medicine in 2024, participants who received ibogaine treatment experienced reductions of 88% in PTSD symptoms, 87% in depression symptoms, and 81% in anxiety symptoms after just one month.I’ve seen firsthand how psychedelic therapy improves the lives of veterans for the better. As we continue fighting the veteran suicide crisis, this advancement must be available to the men and women who served our nation.

The House fulfilled that promise earlier this month with the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2027 – critical legislation that ensures our national security.
The NDAA advances ibogaine and psychedelic-assisted treatment research to battle severe mental health issues and accelerates next-generation hypersonic weapon development to keep our nation ahead of our adversaries. I'm proud of what we secured for our warriors in this year's bill and look forward to its swift passage in the Senate.
