Congressman Pete Sessions Mourns the Loss of District Director, Kevin Burnette

“Kevin, my friend, I will miss you. Yet I know you've been given a New & Eternal Life in heaven with the Lord.”

AUSTIN, Texas (Texas Insider Report) — “My heart is heavy, and I'm sad to announce the passing of my longtime friend Kevin Burnette," said Congressman Pete Sessions, following the unexpected death of his Texas Congressional District 17 District Director, Kevin Burnette, who passed away Sunday night.

"Kevin and I began working in politics together in 1976. We shared a vision of a better future for the United States and the State of Texas," said Sessions.

"A veteran of public service and congressional politics for over five decades, Kevin worked a fulfilling career – ranging from service as Chief of Staff for former Texas Congressman Beau Boulter, to leading the Texas operations for my team.

"Kevin left an enduring impact on his state and peers, and I greatly benefited from the wisdom he imparted over many years.

"Often referred to as the brains of the operation, he was a dependable and thoughtful leader in my office, whose presence and value will be greatly missed," Sessions said.

Congressman Sessions has been a Member of Congress for 26-years, and is a member of the House Financial Services Committee and the House Oversight & Accountability Committee

Upon learning of Burnette's sudden passing, State Representative Doc Anderson – whose State House District 56 overlaps with parts of Sessions's Congressional District in the Waco & McLennan County areas of Central Texas – said, "My wife Lyn and I were shocked and saddened to learn of Kevin's passing – and extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the District Director of U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions, Kevin Burnette.

"He was a trusted and wise advisor to Congressman Sessions, and a passionate and articulate champion for Congressional District 17 and all who call it home. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his co-workers, and his innumerable friends across Texas. May God grant them that special peace which passes all understanding," said Anderson.

"It was an honor to know him, and a privilege to work with him," said Congressman Sessions. "My wife Karen, my congressional staff, and I all extend our deepest sympathies to Kevin’s loving wife, Patricia, his daughters Anna Grace and Callie, and the rest of the Burnette family.

“Kevin, my friend, I will miss you. Yet, I know you have been given a new and eternal life in heaven with the Lord,” Sessions said.
