Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – “By making it illegal to transport a minor to another state for an abortion without abiding by the relevant laws and parental consent requirements, this legislation would honor the rights of parents, protect children, and save our most vulnerable lives,” said Senator John Cornyn, joining the effort to pass the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act to make it a crime to knowingly transport a minor across state lines for an abortion if parental consent or notification requirements of the state of residence are not met.

The Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act would amend federal law to make it illegal to knowingly transport a minor across state lines in order to obtain an abortion by evading a state’s parental consent and notification requirements.
The legislation would also make it a crime to knowingly perform an abortion on a minor who was taken across state lines in violation of these state requirements.
