Cornyn, Cruz Praise White House Announcement of Western District of Texas Judicial Nominations

“I am proud to support President Trump’s nominations of Christopher Wolfe and Andrew Davis to serve as federal judges in Waco and Austin, respectively.”

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) released the following statements after President Trump announced his intention to nominate Christopher Wolfe to be the District Judge for the Western District of Texas – Waco Division and Andrew Davis to be the District Judge for the Western District of Texas – Austin Division:

“I am proud to support President Trump’s nominations of Christopher Wolfe and Andrew Davis to serve as federal judges in Waco and Austin, respectively,” said Sen. Cornyn. “Judge Wolfe has a proven track record of upholding the rule of law as a State District Judge in Fort Worth, while Mr. Davis has a wealth of experience in the legal field, from his service to the Senate Judiciary Committee to his time as Assistant Solicitor General for the State of Texas. I was honored to join Senator Cruz in recommending both Texans to serve on the federal bench, and I urge my colleagues to join us in supporting their nominations.”

“I applaud President Trump’s decision to nominate Andrew Davis and Chris Wolfe as U.S. District Judges in Texas,”
said Sen. Cruz. “Andrew previously served as my Chief Counsel, and I am confident that both he and Chris will make excellent district judges who will uphold the integrity of the law to the highest degree. I look forward to their swift confirmation.”

The Senators recommended both nominees to President Trump following an extensive review and interview process of the candidate pool by the bipartisan Federal Judicial Evaluation Committee (FJEC). Sen. Cornyn and Sen. Cruz established the FJEC, a bipartisan panel of leading attorneys in Texas, to help identify the most qualified candidates to fill judicial vacancies. The panel reviewed applications, interviewed candidates, and made recommendations to the Senators, who interviewed individuals before making their recommendations to the President.
