Cornyn: Stopgap Funding Bill Result of Democrat Obstruction

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. On the Senate floor today U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) criticized Senate Democrats for filibustering the regular appropriations process requiring a short-term bill to responsibly fund the government. Excerpts of Sen. Cornyns remarks are below and video of his speech can be found here.
Its pretty clear that everybody understands the C.R. as we call it around here Continuing Resolution is really a  stopgap spending bill to fund the government and it is the result of our Democratic colleagues filibustering the regular appropriations process." This is the first time since 2009 that all twelve bills have been voted out of the Committee…Thats the way the legislative process is supposed to work and thats the way that is transparent to the American people." But this year our Democratic colleagues stopped the regular orderly process of passing appropriations bills." Its pretty obvious that their purpose was to make sure that they had maximum leverage in order to force the federal government to spend more money."  So this is the reason why we find ourselves here in this distasteful and unpleasant position. Democratic obstruction. And so now we are forced to deal with a short-term stopgap bill which is nobodys first solution. Its not my second or third. But its something we must deal with. And we will."
Senator John Cornyn a Republican from Texas is a member of the Senate Judiciary and Finance Committees.
