Texas Governor Abbott Declares Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as Terrorist Groups

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – When President Biden refused to enforce our immigration laws at the border, Texas bore the heaviest burden. In March 2021, Governor Abbott launched Operation Lone Star to help secure the border when the federal government would not – an operation that was vital to ensuring the safety and security of all Americans.

That’s why, this week, I led a letter, along with members of the Texas congressional delegation, to the U.S. Departments of Justice (DOJ) and Homeland Security (DHS), urging them to prioritize releasing funds set aside in the One Big Beautiful Bill to reimburse the State of Texas for the more than $11 billion dollars spent on border security. Texas played its part in keeping this country safe, and it’s time for the Lone Star State to be paid back.

There is no country on this planet where Christians are being murdered at the rate they are being murdered in Nigeria. Since 2009, there has been a systematic mass murder of Christians. Boko Haram and other radical Islamic terrorists are carrying out these mass murders, and far too many government officials are acquiescing or turning a blind eye to what is happening. For years, I’ve been leading the fight to shed light on these horrific atrocities, and I am thankful for President Trump’s strong leadership and action in responding to this crisis.

This week, Texas Governor Greg Abbott designated the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as FTOs and transnational criminal organizations. The Muslim Brotherhood is unquestionably a terrorist organization, and it has been designated as one by governments around the world, including Austria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. We have yet to designate them at the federal level, and it’s time for the United States to make this designation.
