Cruz to Introduce the Bipartisan Protect College Sports Act to Restore Order in College Athletics.

Additionally, it protects athletes and fans and keeps college sports from becoming a two-conference minor league.

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – College sports are at a breaking point. Fans can see their favorite teams being hollowed out by transfer chaos, fake NIL bidding wars, eligibility lawsuits, and a system that allows the richest programs to keep pulling away. That’s why I am introducing the bipartisan Protect College Sports Act to restore order in college athletics.

This bill allows student-athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness while creating clear rules, preserving competitive balance, protecting historic rivalries, and strengthening the connection to education. Additionally, it protects athletes and fans and keeps college sports from becoming a two-conference minor league.

The NCAA has made lots of mistakes in the past, and there's no doubt the old system was unfair. One important thing the Protect College Sports Act does is protect athletes' rights to receive genuine NIL compensation and participate in revenue sharing. It is only right and fair that if someone develops incredible skills, they are able to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

If Congress fails to act, within three to five years, we will see only 30 to 50 college football programs. Every other program will go under because most programs are losing millions of dollars. As a result, all of the non-revenue sports, Olympic sports, women's sports, track and field, and tennis would be canceled — that's a terrible outcome.

The government of Tanzania is carrying out a campaign of political repression and religious persecution. This is why I introduced the United States-Tanzania Bilateral Relationship Act, bipartisan legislation requiring a comprehensive review of U.S.-Tanzania bilateral ties and a report on whether senior officials involved in human rights abuses should face sanctions.

Tanzanian authorities severely undermined the legitimacy and fairness of the October 2025 elections by barring opposition parties, arresting and abducting religious leaders, and manipulating ballots. They have systematically weaponized state power to control religious expression, bar Christian gatherings, and restrict Church activity. This bill will help counter that political repression and the persecution of Tanzanian Christians, and I am proud to lead it.
