If somebody gets released here in San Antonio they probably wont get a hearing for the next 4 to 5 years.
AUSTIN Texas (Texas Insider Report) South Texas Congressman Henry Cuellar said earlier this week that 51500 illegal immigrants have now been dropped off at the San Antonio bus stop since December 2018. And Cuellar said 90 of those are crossing illegally asking for asylum and come from El Salvador Guatemala and Honduras.
There are people in other countries now understanding saying Hey this is what we need to do bring a child. If you come with a child a family unit then youre treated very differently said Cuellar.
And if somebody gets released here in San Antonio they probably wont get a hearing for the next four to five years said Cuellar.
Its a loophole for the illegal immigrants who have figured out a way to stay in the United States.
Especially when they arrive as a family unit.
Unlike deporting those illegal crossers who come from Mexico or Canada the process for those coming from Central America is far more time-consuming and costly.
Cuellar wants to change that pushing for more immigration judges and a new process allowing more migrants from all countries to be deported faster.
My thing is we turn (and process) Mexicans and Canadians right away. Why not treat everyone the same Cuellar said.
Another part of the solution helping Central American countries work on their problems to reduce the number of people seeking asylum Cuellar said its a far better investment than a border wall.
