Customs & Border Protection Officers Disrupt Narcotic Smuggling Attempt Worth $3.1 Million in Laredo Texas

27 packages containing 155 pounds of alleged methamphetamine seized

CBP officers display exemplary vigilance in keeping dangerous narcotics from entering our country" said Laredo Port of Entry Director Albert Flores after U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers intercepted 27 packages containing a total of 155 pounds in hard narcotics in one enforcement action.

The seizure occurred on Saturday March 29th at the Gateway to the Americas International Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2002 GMC Yukon for a secondary examination.

Upon a canine and non-intrusive imaging inspection CBP officers discovered the alleged methamphetamine within the vehicle.

The narcotics have an estimated street value of $3103194. CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle.

U.S. Customs & Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management control and protection of our nations borders at and between official ports of entry.

CBP is charged with securing the borders of the United States while enforcing hundreds of laws and facilitating lawful trade and travel.

The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
