Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Better Business Bureau serving the Heart of Texas has extended the deadline to apply for the
2018 Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics. Businesses wanting to apply now have until
Friday Oct. 5 to send in their applications.
BBB created the Torch Awards to recognize and celebrate ethical business practices. Spotlighting these companies fits BBBs mission which is to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust.
Any for-profit business headquartered in BBBs 105-county service area can submit an entry. Entrants must have been in business for at least three years. While BBB Accreditation is not a requirement businesses must be in good standing with BBB and have at least a B rating to be considered for the award. Also past winners can only enter once every three years.
Candidates will be evaluated by a panel of judges from the business and academic communities. The judging criteria include these six categories:
- Excellence - How an organization has demonstrated quality of excellence throughout the business.
- Integrity Ways a business promotes integrity through leadership and how the message is disseminated within the organization.
- Teamwork How the business encourages teamwork.
- Trust How the business promotes trust with both internal and external partnerships.
- Respect Accolades or awards that exhibit respect earned in the businesss field and how the business shows appreciation to its employees
- Community Involvement How the business makes efforts to connect with its community.
Winners will receive the following:
- Inclusion in a press release announcing winners
- Announcements made via BBBs social media channels.
- Lifetime use of the BBB Torch Awards Seal (as long as winner maintains a B rating with BBB).
- Torch Award trophy presentation by BBB.
- Professional quality photos taken of winning businesses by BBB
- Website recognition.
- Perpetual placement on Torch Awards winners page (as long as winner maintains a B rating with BBB).
