Demanding Transparency at the Doe on the Economic and Environmental Impacts of LNG

Biden announced an indefinite ban on LNG export permits to non-free trade agreement (FTA) countries in January 2024, U.S. natural gas export projects have stalled.

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Luttrell and 45 other lawmakers sent a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, expressing serious concerns about the Department of Energy’s (DOE) transparency and accountability regarding the Biden-Harris Administration’s management of liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports. They requested clarification about DOE studies on the economic and environmental impacts of LNG, which, according to reports, may have been withheld from the public because they highlighted the benefits of U.S. LNG in the global energy market.

Since President Biden announced an indefinite ban on LNG export permits to non-free trade agreement (FTA) countries in January 2024, U.S. natural gas export projects have stalled. This decision has delayed key energy investments and weakened energy security for both the United States and its allies. A federal court recently blocked the ban, questioning the legal and factual grounds for the policy and raising doubts about the administration’s justifications.

Supporting Veterans
Congressman Luttrell and a bipartisan group of his colleagues introduced the What Works for Preventing Veteran Suicide Act, a crucial step toward improving the effectiveness of suicide prevention programs within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). With veteran suicide rates tragically high, this bill aims to strengthen data collection and transparency to ensure that life-saving resources are allocated to the most effective initiatives.

“Veteran suicide is a crisis we cannot afford to overlook, especially as the numbers continue to climb. As someone who served alongside many of these brave men and women, I am committed to ensuring we bring this number down and eventually to zero,” said Congressman Luttrell. “This bill will help us understand which programs are truly working, so we can maximize on those efforts and save lives.”

Investigating The Attempted Assassination of Donald Trump
The House Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump released its interim report earlier this month. The shocking security lapses and communication failures at the July 13 rally in Butler are unacceptable and, according to the report, were preventable.  Accountability is critical and Congressman Luttrell looks forward to reviewing the findings in the final report.
