Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Biden’s relaxed immigration policies have given a green light to traffickers and smugglers that our southern border is open. The Biden's policies on immigration will take us back to the Obama administration – costing us a secure border and weakening our national security.
Throughout the month of February, about 2,200 unaccompanied minors have illegally crossed our border weekly – that is a 45% increase from the previous year. Prior to Inauguration Day, CBP was encountering less than 500 family units per week attempting to cross the border illegally, now we are seeing nearly 2,500 per week. Our border is reaching a break point. Illegal immigration endangers the lives of migrants and benefits smugglers and traffickers who will take advantage of our loopholes. We need remain strong on our border policies to ensure the safety of Americans.
Breitbart: McCaul: Biden Sending ‘Terrible Message’ on Illegal Immigration, ‘The Green Light Is On’
"I live in Texas, a border state, I chaired the Homeland Security Committee... I’m just telling you, the green light is on now. We are open for business again. It’s the worst message to be sending to the traffickers who are smuggling these kids across the border. To see a 45% spike which will take us back to the Obama administration all over again."
Homicide cases in Austin have spiked by 50% since the Austin Police Department saw a $150 million cut in funding - hurting their ability to respond and prevent crime. In fact, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas, Gregg Sofer, has directly linked defunding the Austin Police Department to the uptick in crime, stating, “defunding the Austin Police Department” is contributing to the dramatic increase in violent crimes in Austin, “...we’re starting to see people from other cities come to Austin and commit crime here.”
Yet, House Democrats moved forward with legislation to defund our police this week.
This move diminishes police’s ability to protect our communities and its citizens.
