Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – At a time when our nation is facing heightened terror threats, Democrats' continued shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security is national security malpractice.
We've already seen four ISIS-inspired attacks on our homeland in recent weeks, including one in Austin, where three innocent people were killed at the hands of a terrorist. And this week, the Iranian regime said it plans to attack parks, recreational areas, and tourist sites around the world.
With the FIFA World Cup less than 80 days away, and "America250" celebrations around the corner, this is especially alarming. As chairman of the Homeland Security Committee's Task Force on Securing the Homeland Amidst Special Events, I highlighted the dangerous consequences of Democrats' DHS shutdown at this week's hearing.
