Early Voting Starts Today!

Voters can vote in either of the Democratic or Republican primaries but not in both.

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas - Early voting for Texas primaries is underway today and officials are hoping for a big turnout. For those Texans who don't vote early, Texas primary election day is March 3.

Early voting ends on February 28. Voters are urged to vote early if they wish to avoid lines on Election Day.

Because Texas is an open primary state, voters can vote in either of the Democratic or Republican primaries but not in both.

Texas Democrats and Republicans are choosing its candidates for President and the U.S. Senate seat presently held by John Cornyn. Voters will also choose candidates for congressional and state representative seats as well judicial positions, the  State Board of Education and Railroad Commission.

Runoff to be on May 26.
In the event some candidates do not receive a majority of the vote in the primary, the top two candidates will compete in a primary runoff is scheduled for May 26.
