For Past Several Weeks Catch & Release Has Returned as Nations De Facto Immigration Policy

Obama Admin prosecuted nearly 500000 Illegal Immigrants Figures Show

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. While the Criminal Prosecution of illegal immigrants has been a hot-button issue during much of the Trump Administration recent figures from the Office of Refugee Resettlement show that the Obama Administration prosecuted almost half a million adults for illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico Border referring on average 1 out of 5 adults apprehended between Fiscal Years 2010 and 2016.

The Department of Homeland Securitys data reveals:

Obama era prosecutions included illegal immigrant violators of both Title 8 of U.S. Code 1325 and 1326 which are used to penalize first time and multiple-or-recurring time offenders.

The DHS data further shows that President Barack Obama referred nearly 200000 children between fiscal year 2012 to fiscal year 2016.

Current U.S. law dictates that criminal prosecution of adults will result in the separation of family units if they are illegally crossing the border together.

The children were either separated from their families or were unaccompanied minors.

During her term as DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen repeatedly insisted that both the Obama and Bush Administrations separated families at the border.

While being fought or delayed by Democrat party leaders at virtually every turn the Trump Administration has attempted to implement numerous and separate alternatives to address the problem of surging illegal immigration frequently noting that the only other option available is to schedule an immigration court date and release the entire family unit into the interior.

With current levels of illegal immigrant crossings having led to the over-crowding of existing U.S. facilities this has been the nations de facto policy practice for the past several weeks or more.

Customs & Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAleenan announced earlier this month that 650 field officers were being deployed to the hardest-hit Border Patrol sectors but supplemental support does not address the other shortage: a lack of room in federal buildings.

With approximately 418000 already apprehended along the Southwest border during just the first six and a half months of Fiscal Year 2019 U.S. Border Patrol has already surpassed its total apprehension level of around 414000 for FY 2018.

And as more families enter the country illegally its costing the U.S. Border Patrol more than ever to take care of them.

The United States will not be a migrant camp and it will not be a refugee holding facility. It wont be. Not on my watch" Trump often declared during 2018.

Through mid-year 2018 that practice known as Catch & Release" had resulted in the release of nearly 500000 illegal immigrants from Central America into the U.S. interior.

U.S. authorities do not actively track illegals once they have been released.
