Good morning. The Committee will come to order. Without objection, the Chair is authorized to declare a recess at any time.
Today, the Rules Committee is convening to consider a single measure: the Senate Amendment to the Fiscal Year 2025 budget resolution.
As has been said by the Speaker and many others, the House’s consideration of the Senate Amendment to H. Con. Res. 14 is the key to unlocking the next critical stage of the budget reconciliation process.
We are here today to do our part in moving that process forward.
The House’s instructions remain ironclad as they have always been since we began our work in February.
Our Republican majority here within the People’s House understands that this process is not just about simply securing another win and putting another notch in our belt.
This process is about fulfilling the American people’s mandate and advancing the President’s America First agenda.
We will use it to:
- Eliminate the possibility of the greatest tax increase in history being levied against every American and their families.
- Provide ample resources to the military so that the common defense of the nation remains unabated.
- Allocate necessary, critical resources to the Trump Administration so that it can further secure the border and reinforce national security.
- Trim wasteful programs, rightsizing our fiscal footprint and putting us on a path to fiscal sanity.
We ought to remind ourselves of the imperatives that remain top of mind for Americans across the entire country. They want a secure border, lower taxes, American energy dominance, and a smaller, less costly, and more accountable federal government.
We ought to address these imperatives without delay – and that means proceeding to the reconciliation process and continuing our work that began just a few short months ago.
Republicans are the ones who will do these things on behalf of ALL Americans, Democrats, Independents, ALL Classes and all ethnicities. We welcome our Democrat colleagues to join us in saving our country and setting it on a path of greatness once again.
