WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — Despite months of the Marxist Black Lives Matter movement, and a slew of wealthy and sports celebrities pushing to "Defund the Police," a Gallup Poll's Analysis released Wednesday finds, “Most Black Americans want the police to spend at least as much time in their area as they currently do, indicating that they value the need for the service that police provide.”
The Gallup Poll found that:
- 61% of Black Adults surveyed want Police to spend the same amount of time in their community
- 20% want them to invest more time, while
- Only 19% said they wanted police to spend less time in their area
“This is similar to the 67% of All U.S. Adults preferring the status quo, including 71% of White Americans,” the poll’s analysis said.
A similar Gallup Poll released July 22nd found that just 22% of Black Americans favored abolishing police departments, such as the Minneapolis City Council has now voted to do.
In that poll, 88% of Black Americans agreed that “major changes are needed to make policing better,” more than any other racial group.
The findings released on Wednesday are from a June 23rd-July 6th Gallup Panel Survey administered by web in English, and conducted as part of the newly launched Gallup Center on Black Voices.
The study includes large samples of Black, Hispanic and Asian Americans, weighted to their correct proportions of the population.
