Chairman Sessions speaks in this week's Government Operations and Capital Markets hearings
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Tuesday, my subcommittee on Government Operations held a hearing with key stakeholders from the United States Postal Service. The USPS is a vital institution that supports both everyday life and our economy, especially in rural communities. As we look ahead, we must ensure the Postal Service is reliable, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the people. These conversations are essential to shaping reforms that will help USPS succeed for generations to come. Click here to see my opening remarks.

In the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, we held a hearing on the barriers that small and innovative companies face when trying to go public. The high cost of compliance and complex reporting requirements are making it harder for American entrepreneurs to grow, compete, and create jobs here at home. Our regulatory framework should promote transparency and investor confidence, but not at the expense of innovation and opportunity. Congress must remove the roadblocks and modernize regulation so that more companies can access the public markets and fuel American economic growth. Click here to see my remarks in the hearing.
Congressman Sessions rode in the Thornton Homecoming Parade
Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of joining the community of Thornton for their annual homecoming parade. It’s always a joy to visit Limestone County and spend time with people who truly embody the American spirit. Communities like Thornton are the heart of our country, full of pride, patriotism, and a deep sense of neighborly care. I’m honored to represent them in Congress. Thank you, Thornton, for having me as your parade Grand Marshall!
Legislative Highlights
On June 25, 1996, 19 brave American Airmen lost their lives in a brutal terrorist attack at the Khobar Towers in Dharan, Saudi Arabia. 29 years later, many of the survivors and families of the fallen are still waiting for the recognition and support they deserve. I have begun the process to introduce legislation that amends the 2015 United States Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Act to release long overdue benefits to the victims and survivors of the Khobar Towers bombing. Click here to watch a video with survivors of the attack and to hear more about this legislation.
H.R. 3944 → Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act 2025
Supporting our veterans and military infrastructure is non-negotiable. That’s why I voted YES on this bill, which provides robust funding for VA services, modernizes our military bases, and ensures continued investment in America’s national defense.
H.R. 875 → Jeremy and Angel Seay and Sergeant Brandon Mendoza Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act of 2025
I voted YES to protect our communities from dangerous and repeat offenders. This bill allows for the removal or denial of entry for illegal immigrants charged with DUI-related crimes.
H.R. 275 → Special Interest Alien Reporting Act of 2025
I voted YES to ensure transparency and strengthen border security. By requiring the Department of Homeland Security to issue monthly reports, this legislation equips lawmakers and the public with the facts.
H. Res. 516 → Condemning the violent June 2025 riots in Los Angeles, California
In response to violent riots targeting federal immigration enforcement in Los Angeles, I supported this resolution to make it clear: violence and lawlessness are unacceptable.
H. RES. 519 → “Condemning the attacks on Minnesota lawmakers in Brooklyn Park and Champlin, Minnesota, and calling for unity and the rejection of political violence in Minnesota and across the United States”
The House unanimously voted YES on this resolution to condemn the attacks in Minnesota on Former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark and State Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette. Political violence is never the answer and I am keeping the Hortman and Hoffman families in my prayers.
