Putting an End to Trafficking in Border Communities with the 'Stop COYOTES Act'
By Cong. Michael McCaul
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Last week, my colleagues and I passed the Defense Appropriations bill to: Support our Servicemembers, Strengthen National Security, and Fulfill President Trump’s Mandate of restoring American Military Superiority. After four years of President Biden’s weak leadership that fueled global chaos, the Trump Administration has worked swiftly to reassert the U.S. Military as the front runner on the global stage and restore peace through strength.
I am proud to help advance our military’s work at this crucial moment in history by passing this important bill, which:
- Funds border security and measures to counter drug trafficking;
- Prioritizes fiscal sanity by eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse at the Pentagon; and
- Invests in critical ships, aircraft, and next-generation military assets,
- including unmanned aerial systems, hypersonics, and missile warning systems.
As the son of a WWII veteran, I have a deep appreciation for our servicemembers, and I'm also proud that this bill honors our brave men and women who defend our freedoms each day by raising their pay and bolstering their medical and health programs.
Putting an End to Trafficking in Border Communities With the Stop COYOTES Act
Last week I introduced the "Stop COYOTES Act," which is designed to address the continued threat of organized criminal activity in border communities. This bill specifically targets drug cartels and human traffickers who exploit vulnerable populations, particularly children, and strengthens law enforcement’s ability to respond through enhanced coordination, resources, and accountability.
For too long, dangerous criminals have exploited our border crisis to traffic innocent children and smuggle deadly narcotics into our nation. It’s time we finally put a stop to these predators and ensure law enforcement agencies have the information-sharing infrastructure to do their jobs efficiently and effectively.
I am proud to introduce this bill to protect innocent children across Texas and support our local law enforcement as they work to counter cartel sponsored crime.
Disaster Assistance Now Available For Williamson and Travis Counties
To those who were affected by the devastating floods in Central Texas, my heart goes out to you and your families. And I am grateful that — because of President Trump’s swift response in the wake of this tragedy — help is available.
The president designated Williamson County as eligible for public assistance from FEMA last week to help our community recover — meaning our local government will be able to apply for federal funding to help cover their cost for restoring public infrastructure.
Additionally, constituents in both Travis and Williamson Counties can apply for individual assistance.
