House Committee Led by Texas Cong. Chip Roy Probes Sharia Law During Hearing

“If we are not careful, America will fall just like what we’re seeing happen in London or Paris.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — “Most Americans are completely unaware that Sharia Law is insidiously trying to take over their communities and undermine our Constitution and way of life,” said House Judiciary Committee subcommittee Chair Chip Roy. “In my home state of Texas, Dallas has become ground zero for the Islamification of America – and there are more mosques being built in Texas than in any other state in the union.”

The House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution & Limited Government – Chaired by Cong. Roy – held a hearing earlier today to uncover how Sharia law is “contrary to America’s founding principles,” and “may violate federal law and the Constitution."

At the hearing, titledSharia-Free America: Why Political Islam & Sharia Law are Incompatible with the U.S. Constitution,” witnesses and members discusses “where, why, and how Islamic extremists are attempting to establish Sharia-based institutions in the U.S.,” said a subcommittee statement.

“If we are not careful, America will fall just like what we’re seeing happen in London or Paris,” Roy added.

“This hearing, which I am proud to lead, is an important first step in sounding the alarm to the American people about the threat Sharia law poses to America.”

Additionally, the hearing discussed currently proposed legislative reforms that would protect Americans from efforts to establish alternative, Sharia-based institutions.

One of the focuses of the hearing was the East Plano Islamic Center, or EPIC City for short.

In April 2025, researchers with the nonprofit Rise Align Ignite Reclaim, or RAIR for short, claimed the compound was “a deliberate blueprint for a self-contained Islamic community, built around Sharia principles and insulated from public oversight.”

The organization’s report drew the attention of lawmakers like Roy and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

“My constituents in Texas are constantly expressing their concern and asking what can be done about the rise of mass Islamic immigration in north Texas, including developments like the East Plano Islamic Center,” said Texas Cong. Brandon Gill, a member of the subcommittee.

“If people come to America in search of a better life, they need to be prepared to assimilate to our culture, not impose third world ideals into our society,” Gill said.

Con. Roy and his fellow Texas Congressman Keith Self recently co-founded the Sharia Free America Caucus in Congress.
